The driver of the vehicle died, according to officials. Two residents in apartments were rescued by off-duty firemen who were driving to their jobs when they came upon the blaze.

  • Smoke continues to billow out of the rubble of two separate barns on the 5000 and 5200 block of Lineboro Road over 12 hours after they were both simultaneously intentionally set on fire early Friday, March 27, 2020, in Manheim Township. According to police, David Sterner, 64, of Lineboro, is wanted by Northern York County Regional Police for arson, risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person in relation to the two early morning fires. He currently is in Carroll County Prison on charges of terroristic threats made against a Carroll County resident. No one and no animals were injured in either of the fires, said officials.

  • Crews work on rescuing pilot Herbert Bartell, 87, who was trapped in his plane after it crashed into trees on takeoff and was suspended 50 feet in the air at the Gettysburg Airport on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Bartell was rescued after a four-hour rescue operation by emergency personnel from across the region. "I'd go tomorrow if I had a plane," said Bartell to the York Daily Record after the crash when asked if he would fly again. "it hasn't fazed me one bit."
